.. and since we are, just a selection below.
Zuss was featured on more sites and in more magazines
than we could keep track of.
We were pleasantly surprised when photo-editor Bob Stevens from The Sun, a weekly newspaper based in Boca Raton, Florida USA, told us they wanted to illustrate a featuring story about recycling with a dozen Zuss-fashions pictures. We gladly cooperated. Nice guy, we were thinking, although we didn't understand why he stopped answering our emails.
We found out why a few weeks later when Bob himself reached the headlines all over the world in a way one could or would never imagine.
We were horrified when we discovered that as a victim of bioterrorism, 63-year-old Bob Stevens died on October 5th, due to the extreme lethal inhaled form of anthrax. (October 2001.) CNN
"Unbelievable what you can do with used bicycle tires!! Sisters Krijnie and Christa have teamed up to recycle old rubber into some of the most imaginative and intricate designs on the net. Standout: the 'Tough Skirt', a rubber laceup mini that can also double as a belt/waist cincher. If that's too hard a slap in your wallet, check out the somewhat-tribal-inspired armbands." (September 2001, Reviewed at Chateau Bizarre)
On the evening of the very same day of the shoot at Bob's by a cameracrew of Ripley's, we were filmed and interviewed by Dutch RTL5 TV at Krijnie's home and at Bob's. This was broadcasted two days later on Monday 17 in the prime-time newscast In Het Land.
And guess again! Forgot to say: zuss-dot-com :-(( But it was fun to do. We like to watch the video... (September 17, 2001)

GELDERLAND, Netherlands (Wireless Flash) -- Two Dutch sisters are turning old bicycle tires into 'haute cou-tire'. Designers Christa and Krijnie De Leeuw Van Weenen are stretching extra life into old rubber tires by cutting them up into dresses, pants, hats and even rubber bras. Although the outfits tend to fade in the sunlight, Christa claims you can swim in them quite nicely. The rubber duds don't come cheap: An outfit can cost as much as $759.00. The sisters are now trying to convince a celebrity like Madonna or the winner of the Tour De France to wear the bicycle tire outfits in public.
"Road Warrior meets The Matrix, this rubber is hot! Krijnie and Christa are sisters who decided to combine their love for Mother Earth with a lot of skill and girl power to create amazing one-of-a-kind handcrafted fashions made from recycled bicycle and moped innertubes. The results are stunning, and the fashions are at once stylish and fierce. You can order the fashions right off of the website where they currently offer skirts, hats, trousers, arm decorations, dresses, neck wear, tops, leg decorations, coats, bags, and vests. They have a very informative and helpful FAQ, list of care instructions, guarantee, returns policy, privacy statement, and size charts. Shipping is free and many fashions come with a box to store the garment!
You can view the fashions by catagory or by clicking on the slide show feature. Ordering is simple when you use the shopping cart. Contact info includes snail mail, phone, fax, email, and online form. I'm blown away, this stuff is amazing! If you love rubber, you have to go look at this. - Vamp"

"With bondage, fetishwear and new-wave punk clothes traipsing down the spring 2001 runways in New York, London, Paris and Milan, it's cool that a pair of Dutch sisters who never went to art school are designing and hand making their very own brand of rough, tough, style with a Back-To-The Future meets ancient warrior edge."

"...To be honest, this site is hard to catagorize. At first glance, you'd think it was an art site. Then, you think it's a joke. You then suddenly realize that it's a serious fashion designer's site.
Zuss Fashion Designs takes old inner tubes and creates fashions that are simply stunning. Using only sissors, sheers, punches and occasionally beads, their creations tread the thin line between everyday wear and fetish wear (after all, they are made from rubber!)..." Read the rest of their review!
